happy new years and stuff...

here's a link to the el camino's listing on ebay... my dad bought it for $13.9k.. it's in great shape... not show car shape but still great shape for a 35 year old car... sounds really good.. the guy restores cars for a living, a very nice interesting guy, Bill Frey's his name in lowell, IN if you're ever in the market for a restored chevelle or elcamino .. this one is mostly orginal, never been restored... it's an authentic SS-396...teh tranny needs rebuilt... Bill gonna have his friend rebuild it pretty much at cost... and he's storing for my dad till the spring then we have go drive back and pick it up... it should be a fun car... it's white and black not blue... but anwyays, i'm beat...

got up at 6 left at 6:30 got back at 5:30.. it's been a long day... family here now for new years and i'm still pretty much beat, and i have a nasty head ache...

so happy new years k8, and everyone else!

el camino?

tomorrow i'm going to the far side of indiana with my dad too look at a '70 el camino SS he will possibly buy... they're asking $14k for it... 76k miles about i think... it better be in damn fine condition for $14k... has the 396 in her.. auto tranny white with blue racing stripes... i'd link to pictures if i knew where they were...

saw after the sunset tonight, because my sister wanted to see that or ladder 49... and i dunno idea that is ladder 49 just doesn't rub me the right way... it was better than i thought, made me laugh and was an overall fun movie... i'm still not convinced salma hayek can act though... or maybe she's just so good it seems fake because it's supposed to seem fake... maybe a rental for a rainy day, but by no means a priority...

i'm very sensitive to noise...someone rustling a plastic bag on the otherside of the house drives me crazy... or someone talking in the same room when i'm trying to watch TV... or the bell on the cat's collar so we know where he is... or any other unnecessary noise in general... i think that's eccentric millionaire quirk... hughes had his cleanliness and died a recluse in a vegas suite... i'll die in a sound proofed vegas suite... which reminds me my sister told me i was going to end up like one of the creepy crazy people you always see in the movies(like hughes or bateman)... it was a wonderful complement...

k8 you need to sign on for another movie... all you have in the pipeline now is underworld 2.... you where gonna play billy bob thorton's character's wife in fade out then something happened and the part went to milla jovovich... so what's it gonna be next k8?

12.30.2004

more on the deadly nuts...

buckeyes pretty much dominated their bowl game tonight... 33-7 over oklahoma state... yay... only losing 4 starting seniors next season... this season they lost 14 to the nfl... they looked good towards the end of the season, and i think next year will be a fantastic year... and dare i say possible national championship material...

work slow today... sometime is wonder if i wanna go to grad school in a completely different field.. like i dunno... dentistry or something... unless i'm lucky to work for a small successful private company, i don't know how happy i'd be as an engineer... in the gov't or a big corporation i think i'd feel suffocated, both becasue of the red tape and the number of other employees... so i dunno... i did like working for my dad's company... but i starting working for the gov't and it got stale fast at the first lab... and the past few weeks in my current lab have been pretty stale too, christmas is a big part of that though... but i do i need to put some serious thought into this... what do lawyers with a technical back ground do? would an mba be of interest to me? what classes would I need to pick up to possibly get into med school? would i be happy in a private sector engineering job where you have to actually turn a profit?

what do you think k8?

12.28.2004

went to see saw...

hehe from the title it sounds like i went to play teeter totter in the park... ahha ::snort::

sorry... i saw the movie "saw" tonight... i need to stop letting my sister over hype movies for me... it's a decent movie... very derivative of seven... but enough orginality i did enjoy and can say it's worth the trip to the cheap house or the rental... but my sister told me it was really gorey, graphic and disturbing... a little yeah... i guess... but she told me i wouldn't look at violence the same after watching it likeit'd be some type life chanign experience... but no.. it was good for a few chuckles, but nothing more than that... atleast in my mind which was damaged by reading american psycho...

did you see "saw" k8?

yeah? do you have darker images appear in your mind on a daily basis?

yeah, me too...

12.27.2004

...

i'm ready to go back to flint... works wrapped up pretty much... i wrapped most my stuff up before i went to vegas because i was gonna be gone for a week... there was hardly anyone there today... and i'm nto too hopeful about tomorrow either... have friday off for new years... then next week i'll proabaly only work 3 days... then it's back to flint...

space net back online... at the moment at least... dial up uploads stuff better, i'll admit... but space net kills with downloads...

i feel so lazy today... i don't wanna do anything... so i now present to you k8, as Ava Gardner...

Wedding Candy...

went to Ben's wedding today... it was nice, small and simple... which is the type i want... he just had his parents, drew and me... Sarah had alot more family... well alot more than 4 but not more then 20 i'd guess... and they had a catered mexican dinner... yum...

i really dont' wanna go back to work...

and k8 wants candy... and by candy she means space net... now you see phil, you're pissing k8 off...

Merry Christmas!

this year we saw the aviator as our christmas day movie... i enjoyed it... even if k8 wasn't in it i would have... she didn't have that big of a part... but i thought she did fine... the reviews talk about the great jobs of leonardo and the other k8(c8 i think actually) but they don't say much about my k8... she doesn't have all that much screen time though.... but it was a good movie, and it got me interested in howard hughes, unlike alexander where i just wanted the movie to end and didn't really care if i ever heard about him again...

i don't feel like writing more... so i present you with another n8 holiday masterpiece...

and of course k8... i would have gotten a picture of her form aviator in the 1940's get up... but someone broke my internet...

12.24.2004

from the desert to an ocean of snow...

it was a pretty good trip... i went to vegas... i dont' thinki said that earlier... we were busy pretty much the whole time... but like anything with my family the drama was much higher than necessary... there are times i just want to throttle my sister... other times i want to kill her... she can be like kosh times 1000...

i did get to see the blue man group... it was pretty amazing... my dad thought it was dumb, and said it was the product of many many years of drug use... they did have a sing-a-long to jefferson airplane's "white rabbit" so he's probably right... but mostly i think he was bitter over the high ticket prices.... i'll expand more on the vegas experience in the future...

we meet one of my dad's friend there... he's a nice guy... but he was what i consider too nice... the two days i was glad he was there to guide us and keep the drama at bay... but after that he became annoying... i got tired of him asking me questions and when i responded he'd look away from me... why the fark did you even ask me the question in the first place... i feel you ask someone a question you should look at them to show that you really care about the answer, and see if they comprehend the question... that's partly why i hate the phone, and i dont' think video phones would be any better... anyways he was always asking if we liked something he showed us... it felt like he needed constant confirmation that we liked him... that bothered me greatly...

well we got back thursday morning around 3am... 17 inches of snow... we were lucky we made it... we caught an earlier flight out of vegas... that flight had already been delayed nearly 3 hours... the flight we were supposed to be on was canceled... luggage didn't make the flight... still haven't received it... but it's being flown to dayton as we speak... the plane got in around 10 wednesday... most of the high ways were closed... we took some by passes and with my dad's impeccable driving skills arrived home around 3... the van got stuck half in the drive way... half way out in the street... took us 30 minutes to dig it out and get it completely in the drive way... but anyways...

phil, its very dishonorable for you to wait till i'm on the other side of the country to cover ohio with snow... and then you're very careless about it and cover all the midwest too... not only that you break my space internet connectionand force me to use dial up... all while I'm 2000 miles away!! i think your powers should be put under review and possibly revoked...

hi k8, welcome back!!

since phil broke my fast internet i can't look around for any pictures of k8 with a santa hat to post tomorrow... so maybe if kielen's bored he can make me one...

oh and one more thing phil... because of the snow and the broken internet you've just accumulated 27000 additional floggings... merry christmas!!

12.17.2004

i'm out...

i'm gone till the 22nd... i'll make a couple posts from my phone if i'm bored... but no more k8 till 22nd...

i'm sorry k8, you don't have to look so sad, it's only a few days...

cracker barrel necrophilia...

work was ho hum... everyone's winding down for Christmas(i usually write xmas because it's easier, but now that the Christ in Christmas offends people i'll start spelling it out to spite them...) so not much going on... and i'm going on vacation this weekend and i can smell my return to flint...

went to cracker barrel for dinner... i dislike the gift shop in the front, it too disorderly and there is always too many people, too many people bring n8 that much closer to insanity... luckily they had these hand puppets that were fun to play with... the puppets make appropriate noises to effectively sing a song as you open and close their mouths... cows moo, frogs ribbit, cats meow... and they sing notes to different songs... the horse would sing camp town races and two other songs for example... my dad sister, and i had great fun playing with these while waiting for our table... the meal was uneventful, i had chicken and dumplings with broccoli , cole slaw and a baked potato...

as we were getting ready to leave i was complaining about my neck and rubbing because it's been stiff all day... now my dad likes to make stupid jokes with words that sound like other words... this is how it played out this time...

n8's dad: what's necrophiliac mean?
n8: it's a person who enjoys.... ah, intercourse with... the umm dead...
n8's dad: oh, i'm sorry i asked... i thought it'd be funny to call you a necrophiliac because you're over there feeling your neck...

now isn't that a funny story k8?

tuesday night movie with a side of k8...

well you may have noticed every tuesday night i see a movie... that's because it cheap night at the cheap house, $1.75 seats... anyways tonights movie was "i (heart) huckabees", i can't offer any deep analysis of it, my engineer mind doesn't work like that... so it would be a lie if i said i really understood it... but i did enjoy it... its not something i'd expect average joe sixpack to like though... my reaction to it was kind of like my reaction to donnie darko, people ask "what was the point, i didn't get it"... and i just feel what's to get, in my convoluted mind it seemed somewhat coherent and it entertained my brain for 100 minutes, and i didn't want to fall asleep or wasn't praying for the main character to die so i could leave... so that makes it at least a decent movie... in my opinion of course...

my grandma's brother was found dead in his apartment today... he hadn't been heard from for a couple days... the maintenance man found him... it's sad because he recently had surgery to fix an aneurysm, everyone thought he was doing really well... i'll admit i'm not very distraught, i hardly knew him and hadn't seen him for at least 3 years... it's been a rough fall for my grandma, though...

got my new bed today... it's considerably taller than the old... and for the first time in my life i have a head board... it's kinda creepy...

i want to read a book... any suggestions... i have a copy of the da vinci code sitting here on my desk... i might start that, the wordon the street is that it's good...

and don't forget to say hi to k8!

12.13.2004

ebay happened...

after being informed of the rarity of the american psycho soundtrack i thought i should try and get a copy being a pretty big fan... amazon ,as i said, was asking $60 -$70... i'm not that big of a fan... so i went to ebay, after some looking around i found one in the states(there were several edited version in the UK), and it claims to be the "RARE 15 track version"... i won the auction for $9... so yipee... with a little luck it'll actually have huey on it too...

and while in my american psycho ebay rampage i got a tshirt too... like this one... i told phil i will wear it everyday of architecture lab...

and here's k8... she's smiling...

buying music online

well i got home from work and had a sudden urge to try walmart's music download service since nozar plays well with it... i like it, but this is my first experience with any pay per download service so i can't make an comparisons... it integrates itself in with windows media player, then you just type in what you're looking for, click a couple buttons , pay $0.88 +tax and you get it... i think it's good if there's a song you hear on the radio and would like to have.. i'd gladly pay $.88 for that... just a note, walmart only has edited versions of the songs... full albums i'll still buy in stores, but most radio bands i wouldn't consider buying the full album in the first place...

oh, i forgot to comment on this before... but what the FARK was the deal with the god forsaken iPod in blade... it was terrible! she has to listen to mp3's while she hunts, okay i'll buy that, if i was hunting vampires or werewolves i'd want nozar by my side too, but then it shows her loading music on to her ipod with itunes... not once but twice!!! grr!!! it's not that i really hate apple, i don't understand apple or people who buy them i'll admit that... but this was just disgusting product placement... in my honest opinion...

12.12.2004

short and simple...

i'm tired and there's football to be watched so here's k8...

roar roar tigers...

well the bengals are looking better than they have in years... they lost today to new england... i don't think anyone expected them to win... it was clsoe, 35-28... new england scored 14 points off of turnovers.. if it wasn't for those mistakes cincy i think would have won...

next year should be a great year for football in ohio, the buckeyes should be back after a painful rebuilding year... and the bengals should have a good season... the bengals havn't had a winning season since 1990... they had a .500 record in 96 and last year... so it'd be nice to see them do well... it's possible for them to have a winning season this year.. for marked improvement i think i'll reward them by purchasing a bengals hat next fall...

12.11.2004

philharmonic mattresses....

today i did my xmas shopping mostly at amazon... yipee... then went out with sister and did a little more... went and bought a new bed... mine is pushing about ten years now... i know this because i didn't want to go to pick it out because i was over at a friends playing mortal kombat 2... mk3 wasn't out yet so this was wheni was in either 5th or 6th grade or 10-12 years old... anyways... a new bed will be nice... nothing really special about it... bought ti from a small local company, the mattresses are made in cincinati... i've only heard good things about them...

tonight we went to the dayton philharmonic orchestra thing at the Schuster center, dayton performing arts theater place... they played xmas stuff and all... this is the first time i'd been to the Schuster center... i'd been to see the philharmonic before in a different venue, but not for 4 or 5 years... this was the first time i really appreciated it... i liked the first half better, it was more instrumental... second half they had a 150 person choir... i still don' really appreciate big choirs... up to maybe 3 people singing i like.. but more than that i don't, the sound, it seems unpure to me... but i enjoyed it more than i thought i would considering i had to dress up...

the whole family went... maybe a 30 minutes drive downtown... i took nozar... and he's wonderful, he makes it so i dont' have to listen to any of the drama in my family... sometimes they're explosive around each other... i mean i'm the calm, reasonable passive, why can't everyone just get along one in my family...the rest are crazy heads... and i dont' like all the drama they put me through... but nozar can make all that disappear... i also felt kind of patrick batemanesque riding in the back of a car downtown listening to headphones so i could ignore everything being said...

anyways, the real reason of this post, k8...

trying email post again....

just testing her out, seeing if she has faster than 2 day response
time now that i've had the blog for a while...

l8 k8...

i was busy doing "normal"... social things... blade was about what i expected... i remember the others ones having more "vampire lore" if you will... i like that stuff... but it was worth the $7 to hear the line "cock juggling thunder cunt"...

had an orange freeze at steak and shake... hung out for a bit... now i should think about sleep...

12.10.2004

movies

this is the opening weekend for blade, oceans 12, and closer... and i honestly think i'd find closer the most interesting of the 3... also i wanna see finding neverland and the aviator(hi k8!)... i think i'd enjoy both of those more than blade too... i'm getting old or something... action movies seem shallow to me... a year ago i liked them jsut fine, but now they're losing appeal...

that said i might see blade tonight with some friends, i won't mind seeing it, just i think closer might be a better movie...

chocolate factory trailer

enjoy

it seems.. umm.. happy?

12.09.2004

saxo-ma-phone!!

today rick mentioned his son's first band concert was tonight... and we got talking and i found out that his son plays the sax... like i did back in the day... then so some unknown reason i got a powerful lust to start playing mine again... so i dig it out of the closet... it hasn't been touched since 10th grade... so 5 years or so... some parts have corroded others, the finish had worn away.. the pads all looked in good shape...and i even had some reeds left...

at first i couldn't make any noise out of it... then i started to get some ugly noises... i tried a different reed, almost musical noise came out... after some blowing it sounded kind of normal even...

so now i had to find the music... apparently phil had the nerve to venture from michigan into the gr8 buckeye st8, sneak into my house and steal my music from me... i spent 2 or 3 hours looking through my room, my closet, ever bookcase in the house and even boxes in the garage and no luck... i suggest you watch your back phil, i will not forget this...

so i gave up and i found some sheet music on the Internet thing... and after a little practice i found i remembers almost all of the notes... i have the basic mechanics still, my mad sax skillz how ever need some(by that i mean a whole hell of a lot) of restoration work... back in the day i could play about anything you set in front of me... just i didn't and probably still don't have creative playing ability to make anything up on my own... but i think i'll purchase an instructional book and some new reads and spend some time playing it.. it was kind of enjoyable... and it'd be nice to have a hobby that isn't shrouded in technology... then i can go join some amateur jazz band with a bunch of middle aged people, and we'll travel around playing at retirement homes... and the old people would love us...

sound like a plan k8?

12.08.2004

buckeyes and pulp fiction

buckeyes made while watching pulp fiction... i think pulp fiction should become part of the yearly tradition... i took a couple years off, but this year i tore through them... and as usual there was a lot of chocolate left over, so we scour the kitchen looking for anything that might be good covered in chocolate... this year we used pretzels, bananas, oreos and ice cream...

drove the miata to the store... it was a liberating experience after the truck... sister wanted to get it washed... i thought it was a bad idea but she insisted.. and it leaked as was expected...oh well...

and k8, you dont' wanna sleep with him he's gonna CARVE YOU UP and put your HEAD IN THE FREEZER!!

poisonous nuts

in true ohio tradition i will be making buckeyes tonight... and michael moore isn't allowed to have any...

now i remember...

i remember something i wanted to complain about now... today skip said "fuck" i forget the context now... doesn't really matter... and then he apologizes and asks, "your'e not religious are you? i dont' wanna offend you"... and i reply yeah i'm kinda religious but don't worry it takes a whole lot to offend me... then later on he went and offended me... he was talking again and said "pussy" while talkingot me and lee, then he said "oops sorry, i shouldn't talk like that around you religious people"... what the fark... i know he didn't mean to be rude... he's a nice guy, he was just being too nice, too thoughtful... but it just came out wrong.. oh well... i'm not gonna lose any sleep over it, and i'll forget it ever happened in 30 minutes...

afterwork post...

work went quickly today... put my basic openloop controller to work and its doing well... if we want closed loop i feel a commerical card should be purchased.. these run from $1200 and up for 3 axis of servo controll which is what we need... PMC has ones that look to be pretty feature rich for a reasonable cost...

i have nothing planned for tonight... so i dunno... fark it... maybe i should go bowling...

12.07.2004

america! fark yeah!

saw team america tonight... it was okay... it had it's moments i thought were good others were kinda boring... they referred to michael moore as a giant socialist weasel.... this made me, and only me laugh... alot of it made me laugh... so i'd say it's worth $2 or $3 at the cheap house or to rent it, but i wouldn't buy it...

burrito form chipotle for supper... steak, blackbeans, hot salsa, sour cream and cheese...

sister's crazy, driving me to my wits end...

i was number 2 on page 2 of a google search for "halflife2 crashes" the other day, and while i'm thinking about it i think i should spell out k8's full name to get google hits, Kate Beckinsale , there we go...

not much else... i, of course, have another picture of k8... but if it's not awesome enough i also have the diet coke commercial she was in which i have no doubt will raise my awesomeness over that of phil's for the day... i only saw it on tv once... during the osu vs northwestern game... i have another k8 commercial too.. but it also has orlando bloom... so it makes me me kind of unhappy...

k8 video!

a truck drivin' n8, is not a happy n8

i have to drive my dad's truck the next few days, my grandma is having surgery and he went to be with her and he took the sunfire for fuel economy reasons...

driving my dad's truck i once again get reminded that my personal hell would be being forced to drive a truck for all eternity... i derive no pleasure at all from driving this truck in fact it's a chore and for the rest of the post i will inaccurately use my experiences with my dad's truck as a generalization to all trucks.. they're big(not good), they're tall(not good), you have to slow down to turn and even when you do slow down it still feels like it's going to fall over(really not good), it gets terrible gas mileage(not good), and aren't really that fast(not good, but not important really)... they get up to 60 quick... but then you have coax more of of them... i'm used to when you hitting 60 in 3rd gear(2nd when i really unwind the 7) and then i'm just getting going... i just personally don't like driving trucks... some people love them and that's good for them, i don't mean to offend them, it's a personal preference, this is just another one of those things i really really don't "get"... but in my convoluted mind i also consider a miata more of a car than a camaro... and i know most of america doesn't agree with me on that, europe might they have better tastes in cars than america... but europe pisses me off for other reasons... anyways... just i disliked my drive home from work in the truck so much i had to post...

12.06.2004

servo, starfish, liquid crystal, and k8!...

back to work... today went fast... i need to understand i can buy stuff at work instead of trying to make everything myself... i'm glad i haven't invested much time in making my controller code because today my boss told me it'd be simpler to just find a commercial controller and he said even if it costs $500 to get it.. but my servo driver shoudl still work fine with that... so i get myself another toy at work... still need optical encoder or pot for position feedback... look into that tomorrow too...

nothing exciting after work... at all... watched spongebob square pants on the television... i'll admit that show does make me laugh...Patrick's awesome...

seeing team america tomorrow at cheap house...

listened to david bowie greatest hits, apc's amotion remix album(quality remixes if i do say so myself), red hot chili pepper greatest hits, and some of the doors today at work, yay nozar!

over 400 kids think we should bring guns to school...

had a "meeting" in an aim chat window with b-dog and THE lord of trek about our lcd overhead projector project, choadazor wasn't around though... looks like it's a go... and unless phil find's a refurb/used at his local computer shop we'll just buy a cheapish new one... it'll be intresting... and we'll probably fark it up... i'll jsut say right now i'll not be the one to remove the lcd panel from the frame... that sounds like an ME's job to me...

and now the nightly dose of k8!

12.05.2004

i'm a real live actor....

well my sister is incharge of the youth drama group at my chruch and they needed an extra person... so i go to pretend like i could act this morning for the junior/senior high service... about 60 kids there... i had three entire lines... go me... but i made people laugh... and it was suppsoed to be kinda funny so i assume it wasn't at my speaking ineptitude... so it went decently well considering i only read the lines about three times before this morning and never ran through it till about an hour before we had to do it...

took nap this afternoon...

helped mom with chruch thing she does every xmas called christmas creations... her nad some of her firend organize it they find about 20 differnt easy to make christmas crafts and people come and make them... so i got to setup and tear down tables and chairs... i'm glad it's over, it puts a lot of stress on my mom and makes being at home unpleasant for everyone else...

and as a personal opinion i think this post needs some more k8...

ah linux...

sorry mr. x, and you know who you are, but i just don't get it...

nkornbau: http://history.cookiethievery.com/070504/
nkornbau: i forget if i sent that to you before or not
mr. x: can't on linux
nkornbau: so linux can't play flash?

and(this one is really pretty funny i think)

mr. x: linux is fun
nkornbau: it's done a pretty good job of fooling me then...
mr. x: hahahaah
mr. x: that was good
mr. x: that was funny
mr. x: it really was
mr. x: i'm still laughing actually

it's just one of the many things in life i don't "get"...

12.04.2004

...i'm tired...

i'm tired and about to go to bed... being this tired reminds of another time i was this tired... that time i was playing gran turismo 3... and i feel alseep in the middle of a race... i woke up spinning down the front straight of the track... i finished the race in second...

and now for k8!

k8 likes rubber ducks just like n8!

swearing, 192kbs, and flea markets....

i feel blah... need more sleep... might be getting a little cold... today helped dad clean up the barn and move all the cars in for the winter... went to flea market with sister... nothing else really...

it's weird when your little sister starts casually swearing... i mean i've cut back alot... it exercises my mind more coming up with other off the wall things to say instead of shit damn asshole fuck... sure get me around brian and they'll flow out my mouth... but most other situations i have a clean mouth... but it's weird when she does it... and it's so predictable... i don't wanna do this shit... that guys an asshole(one of her favourite words), what the hell(okay borderline swearing)... just now at my old age of nearly 22 i find it unnecessary... but really i can't say much, i've had and still can have a mouth worthy of an experienced sailor...

last night i dug up a bunch of old cd's from highschool and junior high and finally got around to ripping them... most were in much less than desirable condition... but the program used to rip seemed to handle them... i haven't heard any bad rips yet... and i encoded using variable bit rate with an average around 192 kbs... i set it up a long time ago... so i forgot the setting but i looked them up later... most of my older rips were at 128kbs... so in theory these should sound better... i didn't have some of my favourite albums on my computer.. or nozar for that matter... beck's odelay, that was probably my favourite album for two years... i only had 2 frontline assembly albums ripped... i own 6... and i found my ancient radiohead ok computer... i was excited about that...but all in all 10 cd were ripped last night and this morning for use on nozar... he's up to 19 gb of music now... will i ever listen to all of that, most certainly not... but it's there if i want it...

one day i want to make a documentary on flea market folk... both vendors and buyers... because there are some painfully interesting people at flea markets and most of them seem like people who would love to talk to the camera... just walking through with a camera and doing some interviews would make for a good video ... there's just so many interesting people, and it's all so stereotypical... old fat white men selling army surplus, asians selling video games, mexicans selling car audio, blacks selling sportswear... and when you talk to them they're just off the charts... flea markets are such strange and wonderful places...

bunker buster video...

my dad emailed this to me... it's pretty amazing...

guns in my school...

I got this email today:

In response to the increase of attacks on students on and around campus, members of the Kettering community are expressing the desire for Kettering University to allow licensed individuals to carry concealed handguns on campus in accordance with state law to increase the safety of the Kettering community. Please read the petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/gunban which asks Kettering University administration to lift the campus gun ban for concealed handgun license holders. If you agree, please sign it to show your support. For more information on Michigan's concealed carry law visit http://www.packing.org/state/index.jsp/michigan

i might have to get a gun and licensed so i can tell the grand kids about how i used to pack heat at school...

but really imagine Kosh with a gun.... now imagine kosh with a gun in a school setting... i can also see max pulling out his piece and bullshitting on how superior it is and then in chizonian style shooting someone in the arm... this is NOT a good idea...

here's a picture of kosh with a gun, graciously contributed by kielen...

i really don't see flint as an environment i need to carry a gun... maybe it's gotten worse this fall, but this summer not much happened... a few instances, but not many... much calmer than the summer before... it's probably just a b section version of max trying to exercise bureaucratic muscle...

i guess if it goes into effect even if no one is carries a gun it would act as a decent deterrent ...

oh i just checked... max has already signed it... so has tom...

i can smell the weekend...

and that puts me in no mood to write controller code...

...tonight's picture of k8...

this'll atleast make me happy, when i check for comments during the day i get to see k8!

one toke over the line...

the title... kielen got me in the mood for the fnl soundtrack... and i have no better idea for a title...

work felt productive today... got software working as expected... still needs features added but good enough to run some tests on a scope... then it was lunch time and skip invited me out to lunch with him...

first we had to stop by his house and pick up his daughter and take her to a half day of school... it was nice meeting her because he always talks the world about her... she goes to my old middle school i hadn't been there in years...

we went to frickers for lunch a sports bar type place... they have great wings... they're twice the size of wings you get at other places and the price is very fair... and i got to order something called "nakedly frikkin' chicken wings" with the "frikkin' kicker" sauce... skip told me how he'd been going there for the last 9 years and how he knew all the waitresses... he commented on how Caucasian women don't age well...

got back form work and my op amps had been delivered... so i got to build up my motor driver circuit... and it worked without too much of a headache... that made me happy, and filled me with satisfaction... tomorrow i have to transfer the circuit form breadboard to pcb... and make the control software more flexible...

did battery life test with nozar today... turned him on in the morning and had him play all day... he lasted 9 hours... he died while i transferring more music to him... i think it probably takes considerably more power to write new files than it is to read and play... maybe?

nothing too exciting at home...

Hi k8!

well after talking about k8 on kielen's blog i decided i needed her on my blog too...

yum.

garden state and Nozar

Nozar

well Nozar is a good name and befitting of a nomad... so Nozar the Nomad it is... i'm assuming it's pronounced like No as in umm No.. and the zar is said like tar with a z...

Well Nozar has been in my company for over a day now... i have no complaints with him... i can't say i've ever had experience with an iPod, but the near 2x increase in price kept me from even looking into them... and in my opinion creative's OS on Nozar works just fine... i find it very intuitive... the jog wheel took a couple minutes to get used to .. but it gets the job done... one draw back is Nozar needs drivers to be be recognized by a host computer so i can't use him in computer labs as a portable hard drive... but the software i also think is pretty intuitive... i transfered 2200 songs on to him last night no problems... the organization is based on the id3 tags... which work fine for everything i've ripped, i had some problems with some mp3's from randy though... but the software allows you to edit the id3 tags and write them based on the directory structure on your hard drive, so even that was pretty painless...

and Nozar's no pretty boy compared to the iPod... and he's a little more husky... but he came with a nice leather body suit which i like... and he does boast a 98 dB SNR... so i can put on an audiophile mask and say that's important to me... but he does sound good, i can turn the volume all the way up and he doesn't hiss at me... my old cd player had some very noticeable white noise... and while i'm on audio quality i'll make my recommendation of Sennheiser mx400/mx500 headphones again, i think they are about as good of earbuds you can get for a reasonable price... the only thing differnt between the 400's and the 500's is that the 500's have inline volume control, which is nice i think and worth the extra $3... but they sound great...

but i have no complaints or regrets with my purchase, and i look forward to many hours spent with Nozar...

Garden State

quick little run through... i liked it... the first two thirds had a lot of dry humour which i ate up... sure i was just about the only one in the theater making an attempt to laugh but i enjoyed it... last third got all sentimental sort of trying to give the movie a meaning...which i guess it did... it didn't ruin the movie by any means but i enjoyed the first 2/3rds more... overall id recommend it...

::edit::

here's a pic of Nozar in his leather suit... i didn't wanna take the glory away from k8 so i'm posting it here...
